Day 2 of lockdown: A Rs 1.7 lakh cr injection

After first easing tax deadlines and business regulations, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a Rs 1.7 lakh crore relief package for the poor today.

India's case count spiked to 650, with 13 casualties being reported so far.

Meanwhile, SpiceJet announced a special flight from Delhi to Jodhpur on Sunday to take Indians who have returned from Iran to govt quarantine facility. Over 500 Germans who were stranded in India have been flown back.

    Govt to supply 7kg/person subsidised foodgrains under PDS for 3 months

UNORGANISED SECTOR
    5 kg rice/wheat to each gareeb for next three months for free
    Rs 2,000 for each farmer to be frontloaded

    One time ex-gratia of Rs 1,000 to be given in two instalments over 3 months to poor senior citizens

    State governments to utilise Rs 31,000 crore welfare fund for the benefit of construction workers
ORGANISED SECTOR
    Govt to pay EPF contribution of both the employer and employee (12% each) for the next three months for firms with up to 100 employees with 90% of drawing less than Rs 15,000 salary
    EPFO regulations to be amended to allow workers to draw up to 75% of their non-refundable advance or 3 months of wages, whichever is lower
