| | | Hi, again gang!
So here's what's had me thinking the past week...What I've been reading:The Badass Blog Planner: Your guide to defining your purpose, creating clarity, and building a year of killer contentLet's put it simply. If you get into any vehicle and just start driving, if you don't know where you want to go, you will never get there.
So it is with blogging, you MUST have a plan to execute if you want to see maximum success!
You can plug away at random activities and see some success, but if you want your blog (and passive income) to explode, take a look at this book.
Find out more HERE.
Plugin I'm using at the site (This one is important!):
Have you ever seen those blogs with a table of contents in the blog posts?
You might be thinking it's extra work for little payoff, but there is a secret to using these that only pro bloggers know.
This secret gets you more clickthrough for Google search results pages and allows you to rank for more keywords with each post too!
Here's an image showing it in action on a Google search for "blog hosting sites" (you may need to click display image in the top of your email to see this image). | | | | See those links at the bottom? They take you directly to the relevant section of the article via the links in the table of contents.
If you go to Google and type the search "blog hosting sites" you can find my article for StartBloggingOnline and click through on one of those links to see it in action (see the table of contents in the sidebar also.)
What do I use to do this? A plugin called Table of Contents Plus, check it out, and let me know if you saw the links when you made the search! :-).
Quote I've been contemplating:
"Success is normally found in a pile of mistakes." - Tim Fargo
A free tool I use
Grammarly
Although I've found success in blogging, I very much doubt I have the best command of English grammar of all the blogs you read. I don't allow that to stop me, however, and neither should you!
Grammarly really helps with this, and also picks out those little mistakes you normally miss so your writing gets a lot better with minimal work.
It actually highlights your typing and grammar errors, and you don't even have to retype them. Just hover over the mistake and Grammarly will show a popup with the correction. just click it and the correction is made for you. Simple, yet amazing!
It works in the back end of WordPress, in Google docs, and even right here in ActiveCampaign when I'm writing these emails for you guys.
An article you will find helpful:
We Analyzed 5 Million Google search results: Here's What We Learned About Organic Click Through Rate
What makes people click one search result in Google over another?
That's what Brian dean tackles in this amazing article and does an amazing job at it! You really should take a look at this article as many bloggers will go down the road of trying to build links to improve the Google ranking of a web page.
While this will of course work (when done correctly), it's far easier, more cost-effective and quicker to just work with headlines and meta descriptions to try to increase the number of people who click through to your site.
If you get this right, it will also often result in a ranking improvement as well as a higher clickthrough.
Double win. :-)
That's it for this week gang!
I hope you found Karen's Tuesday Tips helpful this week. As usual, please let me know if you have any suggestions, tips, tricks or tools you would like me to share next week! :-)
